MISSION STATEMENT

Jackson County Mass Transit District is a municipal corporation created by the Jackson County Board  in 1992 and has been in operation since 2002.  JCMTD is a general public mass transportation system that strives to provide safe, efficient and affordable transportation to the general public, including elderly and the disabled, with Deviated Fixed Routes and on a demand-response basis.

JCMTD goal is to embody a new vision of Southern Illinois Mass Transit.  A vision of connecting people and constantly improving service to our clients whereby we will integrate, coordinate, plan and build a transit system worthy of its passengers.

Jackson County Mass Transit Districts use of social media is intended to encourage interaction between the user and JCMTD and cannot verify or confirm the accuracy of user comments or their compliance with the guidelines outlined here. JCMTD does not endorse any of the views in comments posted by users.

Privacy

Jackson County Mass Transit Districts social media accounts are hosted by a third-party service provider’s platform, which means JCMTD has limited control over how each platform uses personal data provided by users. Users are encouraged to read the privacy policy of each social media platform in advance of engaging with JCMTD via these platforms.

As a reminder, communications with Jackson County Mass Transit District, whether on social media or in an e-mail or traditional mail, are subject to the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). Social media and e-mail interactions are public information, and are subject to disclosure, according to that Act.

Jackson County Mass Transit District recommends that users of social media platforms refrain from including personal information that they wish to remain confidential when interacting with the social media accounts.

In an effort to comply with the Illinois FOIA and other laws, including copyright laws, Jackson County Mass Transit District may seek to limit or remove information from social media platforms. For example, it may limit or remove information pertaining to JCMTD personnel, whose personal data is generally protected under the Act. JCMTD has the right to remove data from a social media platform that is deemed inappropriate.
